Virtual WiFi Router is a software-based router that can turn your computer into a WiFi hotspot. After a simple setup, the application will be ready to share your internet connection wirelessly to any WiFi-enabled devices. It requires Windows and .NET Framework 4.0.
The application looks very simple, and actually, getting it to work should not be complicated, even if it's your first time using a program of this type. All you need to do is enter a name for your network, that is an SSID, and a password to protect it. On the drop-down menu you will find the Internet connections available, and you just need to pick the one that you want to share, which can be broadband, 3G, dial-up, etc. You can also set the maximum number of peers that can connect to your network.
On the Client-Connected tab, the app displays the list of peers connected, showing the device name and other details like IP and MAC addresses. Unfortunately, it does not enable you to control clients access or share files with them. Extra configuration options are available in the Settings section, letting you change the app's color and determine the way it starts up.
In short, Virtual WiFi Router is a free app that offers a quick and safe way to share your Internet connection with people around you. It is stable and works very well. Besides, it is free and does not display ads while it's running, however, it attempts to install extra software during setup.
